This is a follow up to my post yesterday. Thanks to those that replied. I found this design on the FLOAT ARCHIVE.
Is this float legal for bait... it is not visible from the top, it has wire to protect the center...
I don't know if it will catch muskrats but I enjoyed building it. If you all think this is good enough, I am going to make a few more tomorrow.
Please let me know thanks in advance for your feedback.

I'd say sure. Good luck.

My guess is that around here it would be legal - but of course each warden has his own interpretations.....

Wouldn't hurt to ask the person that would be writing the ticket.

contact the head of the DNR,law enforcement or your distric law enforcement officer through the DNR(or whatever theyre called there) to make sure.

In MN, bait can't be exposed from the air to protect raptors. It would probably be OK in MN, but I don't know the laws in IL either.

J that will work and it is legal.
I would have moved the "bait area" to the center though and used a trap at both ends. If you are going to use that in flowing water, put your anchor line at the rear, to let the water carry the scent of that bait down stream. Most times a rat will approach from down stream.
