Sold some fur Saturday at KY Furtakers Chpt. 12 auction. 29 Coyote-High $14 Lo $1. Avg. $9.00 1 Grey $21. 5 Reds High $20 Lo $17.50 Avg. $19 114 Coon High $15 Lo $ 3.75 Avg. $10.49 From all of the 'gloom & doom' that I have been reading here & elsewhere, I was almost pleased. Not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. The $1. coyotes were pretty muddy when I brought them home. Didn't realize how ugly they were until after I had washed them & they were pretty much dry. Figured I'd take them since I was going anyway. The $3.75 coon were blue. Didn't expect much more than a dollar each for them. But they were still well furred. Also had something I haven't seen before. 15 coons had gray leather. Not quite sure what that means, but still well furred & brought $6. ea. All in all, not too bad. BR

$19 for reds - I haven't heard of anyone doing that well. You only had 5 - were they all really good?

scansy-the Reds were pretty decent. One female that I had pulled from the freezer & finished out, had a place about the size of your hand that started to slip just a little. On the belly, just in front of her hind legs. I guess that when I froze it that it took a little too long to chill. sunny-you're welcome. I, too, like to compare to the rest of the country. After the report that I saw on that Disaster of an auction out West, I was almost afraid to take anything to our auction. Glad that I did.

I shipped my stuff to NAFA's Feb sale. Out of 31 coon, only 18 sold. I got as much as $34. for a few of them. Of course, those were the best ones that sold for that. I averaged just over $24. on my 18 coon. Mink average was just over $12. and all but 2 of those sold. Beaver sucked! I had one super that sold for $32. Otherwise, I averaged less than $10. I admit I had 10 small ones that brought the average down. All but 4 beaver sold out of 22. I had a beautiful skunk with nice broad double stripes that I got a measly $2.50 for. Barely paid for the quart of peroxide I used to get the smell off the hide!
