are gonna be trapping as hard this year, with the prices the way they are, as you would any other season?
How many of you are gonna slack off or even not trap all together until the market comes back 'round?

Land sets for predators - Yes.
Water sets - No. Coon in the tank, muskrats practically non existent around here.
Maybe a half-dozen or so cubbies for mink.

The big old ridgerunners, yes. The bottomland and creeks, no. Only coon I'm gonna trap down low are the one folks have asked me to get rid of.

I have no idea really.....would like to make some mink sets for sure.......and fox just because. Our state Convention is this weekend so I will go and talk to the guys.......then see how things go after season opens. Fur Price has little to do with it though.

I was told 6-8 for nice big coon put up. but that buyer said they had to be good coon and put up well...any messed up coon will be 1-2 dollar coon. Nothing less then large either.

I'm all out this year...mainly because I'll have the time. I'll mainly be targeting yotes because that's what gets me on peoples property. I'll take whatever else comes along though. I may even try a little water trapping this year....once again because I'll have the time. I'm hoping it'll be a season to remember...at least in the fur shed, maybe not so much at the auction. lol

I'll be trapping some beaver ponds, but only because I'm committed, while I'm doing that I'll put a few mink sets out. My brother and I might go spend a few days up the river for otter, but that's not for sure. If I hadn't told the guy I would take the beaver I wouldn't trap at all this year, but I don't want him to have somebody else trap it and lose the property.

Huck, in my eyes IF the coon inventory clears out, we have an early freeze in the north, AND trappers send low numbers to NAFA we'll have better than expected prices. On top of that we better hope for a cold winter in Russia and China. This is the year to hold or tan fur, don't sell early. Hold fur and hope we can starve the market for a balance in supply and demand.

I was busy this weekend old man and I couldn't pee down your leg.... Hawk, we shoot spitballs at each other for fun so we're just picking at each other. Not sure who pulled "FOXMANs" chain though....Best thing he can do is crawl back under his rock where he belongs. Glen, I aint no big numbers fella but I hold my own with you old farts ;D

Prices ain't got nothing to with whether or not I trap or how hard I hit it. I've been trapping as much as possible for the past 35 years. May just sit this one out.
I gots some big fish to fry this year.......
