So many times I've seen posts from starting trappers that there is muskrats in a creek but no sign. If they eat they have to poop, and this is one of the sets that will take muskrats, one after another. Look for a log or whatever that has poop onit, in this case the log, you can see it is all over log. Notice the log has a natural place where the muskrats are crawling up on, which makes it an ideal trap set. Then set you trap just under the water , on the end of the log. and the result:

another thing too is that if you should put some rat poop on a rock log bank etc. the other rats will come to check out htis new toilet. Most rats will have a pellet or two that can be easily squeezed out of them after the skinning process is done.

if you are providing a rock and the poop and its in moveing water. position the object (rock, board, log) slanted down stream and the trap on the downstream side. its easier for a animal to control its pathway when going upstream against the current rather than coasting down stream where they dont have as much control. oh yeah if your useing gathered poop putting a little muskrat musk with it (any i do mean a little) would be a help.

a toilet set with some "all call" lure wil attract any around, positioning the trap on the upstream side is a very good tip
