I'm going to speculate here..the price will probally start around 500 but you will have to keep in touch with your buyer almost daily as to the overall harvest...low harvest high price ...high harvest low price..plus Chinas economy and low dollar also helps.

I think that he will be able to come out on it this year. I feel likw it will be just as high as it was last year, if not higher.....woods grown(big roots) will be hard to move.

Speculating wildly on roots, or fur, seems a bit crazy.
It may sound weird but I'd rather sell to a buyer at a sane, stable rate than that morass of (yes, I know, you're tired of hearing about it) of the '70s & '80s. People made a lot of money but also shot themselves in the foot, in the long run...sigh...Exessive speculation...
The fur industry and medicinal roots are classified as part of the agricultural bussiness...last time I looked. That's about right.

Seng is starting cheaper than last year. I think, I will open close to 400 or a bit less. Thought earlier it was going to be higher but it don't look like it today. At this time it is hard to find any info about prices to the dealer. Don't seem that any of the end users want to commit to a price yet. How is the woods look in your area. they are dry agin in So Ind.

I have roots I planted in my woods each year for the past 20 years. They range in age from about 5 years to 20 years. I planted them and never touched them after that. Any idea what I could expect to get for them?

What do you think I should try to get per pound?

a buyer will have to see the roots to give you a price. They could be called transplanted wild if the roots were wild. If they were seed from a seng farm, they will not bring near wild prices. They could range from simulated wild all the way to poor cultivated. There is hardly no way a buyer could give you even a remote estimate without seeing the roots. Even then you most near have to handle the root to see how good they are.

I usually make a trip to Wisconsin to sell my roots. My last trip was several years ago. At that time I got $300. per pound. My roots are about the same now as those were. I'm hoping ginseng has gone up in price since then.
