Any movement in the market yet? I've heard some say they aren't going to sell theirs this year at all. Others have said the price should rise after Christmas.

At this time the seng mkt. is dead. No activity what so ever. I am surprised anybody is still offering 375 especially when he owns a barrel of 750 seng. Most buyers in my part of the country are paying from 225 or lower to maybe 300. First time in my buying carrer I have seen the Chinese not make offers in the early season. I have seen them back out of the mkt. later on. but never early.

Can ginseng be frozen and held over another year?

If your ginseng is dry just place it in a paper bag,not plastic, and put it in your bedroom closet...no need to freeze.

I have too much to put in a paper bag; around 10 pounds of dried wild root.

Do not put it in the freezer. Put it in 3 paper bags if it won't fit in one bag. If you put seng in the freezer, then you run the risk of it picking up moisture while in the freezer and even if it don't you will have to spread it out so it don't sweat as it becomes warm again. Freezers are a bad idea for seng. Market is still not good on seng. Nothing has changed since day 1. Probably not going to change this year.

Do you think the market for seng is down for the same reason everyone is predicting the fur market will be down - general economic meltdown?

My seng is currently in cardboard boxes. Will it be OK left that way until next year or is paper bags better?
