I don't want to start anything... LOL.. Just want folks take on it. Pro and con. I can't bring myself to dip.. I dye and wax the old way. I am willing to give it a go. I know many people dip their traps and have good luck with it. Maybe I need to move forward. I know the old way take a long time and is labor intensive. So educate me!! Or not. Yell at me even!!! Only kidding!

I dipped my first dozen traps this year. I will keep track of catches between those and the ones I dyed and waxed. Dirt sets going in soon, so we will see

I started trapping last year and have used Formula 1 only. I caught fur, but also had a lot of diggers last year too. But I'm not sure exactly the cause. I know when I started bedding my traps more solid part way through the season last year, the number of diggers went way down.

I used dip for a few years and did ok with it. But I thought that the old dye and wax looked and protected a lot better. Plus the dip almost made the traps feel sticky. Even when using white gas. So It's back to the old way.

Shaggy is right about the traps feeling sticky some - especially at first. Putting them in the ground seems to correct that.
I might dye and wax sometime just to say I did it.

I use to dip.
I found out rustoleum holds up better(u still have to wax). And i didn't see a difference in my catch ratio.
I do let my traps air out for a month tho before waxing.

Plus the SCs 1.75 I just got that were dipped.. Had to soak in gas and scrub them off. I did answer myself. They are all done now. Dyed and waxed(boiled) and in their totes waiting for Thursday.

I dipped mine this year. You need to mix it thinner than the directions call for. No problems with them being sticky.
