Well heck guys if she likes snakes.... ...heres another...this baby is a very rare endangered eastern hognose snake that was actually captured in the kitchen of our office...the fish and game biologist said it was the first confirmed sighting in our area in over 22 years!...first one I had ever seen in my life afield...they are colubrid or rear fanged snakes, mildly venomous...their main food is toads which have developed a defense against the snake by blowing up with air to make it hard to swallow them....the snake has dapted by growing a rear fang in the back of its mouth thats deflates the toad:

We have both the eastern and western here. They are agressive dudes ...till they play dead. First one I ever seen I was sure it was the deadly cobra.....LOL More commonly called "Puff Adders" here.
They do stand and puff out at the neck like a cobra and hiss like crazy. Stink like crazy too. Then some of them roll over and play dead. I have seen some that don't do that though....they just want to fight.
They say they are non venomous...but we had a dog fight one and he died less then a day later. So I aint so sure they are so "mildly' venomous.
I have only seen one in the past 25 years or so. It was cool to see but a pain to catch and remove from the folks yard.
BTW..Sunny will tell ya how much she loves ya for postin pics of snakes here. She has a fetish for the things. LMAO

Ive been looking for years for a hognose snake for a photo and this one literally got into our building and was laying up against the warm dishwasher in our company kitchen...2 ladies were making coffee and saw it and figured the fellas had put a rubber snake there to scare em...until the snake started crawling off lmao....then a guy put it outside and someone told me about it so I went outside and found him and took some pix....then I got to thinking it was a hognose and the pix confirmed it with the state biologist who came over and searched everywhere for it but could not find it again....pretty odd circumstances really.

sam, wheres the pic??? nasty.. i wasnt a child. it was about 3 yrs ago. the latest anyway. i had Alexys' playpen on th back deck and was pushing her in the swing and looked over and there was a snake crawling along the edge of her playpen, presumingly after birds that were in the rafters but either way, it ws enough for me.i was terrified because i had almost set her in the playpen. believe it or not i used to catch green snakes with my grandma on the way to church when i was young. the dirt road had alot of high grass and you could see them if you were very obsrvant. i even let em coil around my arm...not anymore. if they cross my path they better be moving faster than i am or theyr dead.i did let 2 go this year that werent near my house. momentary insanity i guess.

dost thee haveth thine poison snakes where thee live?... we have monster timber rattlers but VERY rare and only way up on the highest mountain top ledges.....they come out for a very few weeks and then hibernate again....the locations that fish and game know of are top secret........ive been up the mountain top for years in the big rocks and have never seen one.

i wont let her shoot snakes with it this summer. itd probably just tick em off and make em attack. I am far from a bunny hugger. I have said many times snakes do so much good they should be left to just crawl off. If you have snake problem it is a darn good sign you have a food supply nearby. Rats, mice, small birds, insects, fish are what they primarily eat. I would take a snake before rats and mice any day. I remove them for a living and like bats are just not understood that well by us. The snake has had a bad deal since Adam and Eve and we all know it was Eve's fault and not the snake
