Every once in a while somebody posts something about wiring a bait, like a plastic frog or a piece of tin foil to the pan of a trap.
I really try to discourage that. I tried it when I was younger and the number of non targets was unreal. PM me and I'll give you a list. Suffice it to say raptors zero in on shiny objects in the water. I did catch a few coon and actually caught a gray fox in a rather unusual set using a wedding ring spinner tied over a trap so that the current made the spinner flutter. Since then I have used this set with 220s in drainage tiles for otter, but the spinner is hidden from view from above.
Anyway, it's your call, but I think all trappers should work to avoid catching non targets whenever possible.

ive heard of people who trappped long ago locally actually covering the pans of their traps with aluminum foil to attract raccoons.
they say it worked for them but i just think there are better ways to bait a trap than that but thats just my .02.
