JMHO, I don't think it's gonna be a year to hold. Sell when you can where you can, or ship. I think if you hold, you're gonna loose money. I don't think you'll see an upswing for 2-3 years. Just my gut feeling. Been wrong before, though. I'm afraid sellers of green or in the round fur are gonna be dissapointed, too. JMHO, YMMV.

we'll ship ours to NAFA. that way when the market rebounds, and it will eventually, we'll have fur available there to sell.
it could be itll just go up for a sale when it does go up and if youre holding your fur, youll miss the boat. just my .02

Guess I will hold on to mine this year. still own lots of coon from last year and quite a few from the year before last. Anyway you stack it, unless something changes in the market this year, ain't none of us gonna sell much fur. won't make any difference if you have it at auction or not. If coon don't sell this year, we will have a major problem. I know of close to 1/2 million coon on the market from last year.

Selling in the round might be a nightmare this year...I'm glad I put everything up

a couple small buyers here that are saying theyre out this year. they arent buying any fur, put up,green or in the round.
i think that if you dont put up your own fur you should probably learn how too, imo, cause the country buyer is gonna be buying less and less and if this thing dont get beter quick, the only option ya might have in selling your fur is to ship it.

I wish more people put their fur up...it would do some good for the whole market.

Haven't had a chance to talk to him yet, but I'll be willing to bet our country buyer here won't even take green or in the round. Look for a tough grade in the country, even on put up fur.

Heard from our local buyer last night. He's out this year. Not going to buy anything. His buyer told him he couldn't move anything right now, or in the forseeable future, apparently. No beef, deer or other fur period.

I've talked to a few trappers who said they aren't going to trap this year. A shortage of fur might help bring the price up.
It's really hard to know what animal to focus on. You could target rats and beaver end up being what you should have gone after because of demand. So, I think I'll just trap for everything like always.
