SUNNY, if you mean "dog Proof" Then I'd go with the longsprings. More versitile and a lot less expensive! If you meant double longsprings the I'd say the # 11 dls is better .

I had a guy last year let me borrow his #11 double long, double jaws for coon in water sets. They worked like a charm. Bought some for myself this year.

We have to use a dog proof box with our conibears unless they are under water or 5' off of the ground. There are no leg hold traps other than egg traps approved yet for coons. I personally like snares for them on there trails,as these are legal after Nov. 15th. Before that it is a 220 in a dog proof box.

What makes your boxes dogproof. Does the 220 have to be recessed?

The trap has to be 7" from the entrance and the entrance can only be 4" square. A coon can get in but a dog can't is the idea. We can use a bucket but the same kind of reg's. The opening of the bucket (open side down) can't be any more than 7" off the ground and the trap has to be recessed into the bucket by 7". Egg traps are allowed but the little griz is not. We can use 220's or 330's if they are 5' off the ground or submerged in water. no body/quick kill traps with a jaw spread greater than 4.5" can be used without a dog proof box or as previously noted.

Let me know when they are ready I'd like to get one to give the trappers board here for humane testing. It could open up a whole new market for you/ Tony and if OK'ed I wouldn't mind being the Canadian distributor or at least the Eastern Canadian distributor. From Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland & Labrador. Let me know via PM.

wheelers is right from talking to tony they are already sent to canada and europe and from my understanding they passed the humane testing.i have one that i am still trying to figure out a new stablizer for it instead of a welded rod that is on it.i want some thing that can slide up and lock in place so more can fit it a pack basket.the price of the trap is $13.95 each and the trigger is made from stainless steel and so is the cable that you anchor with.the coon can not pull out but can put it's leg farther in meaning the foot could goe all the way threw it. tony designed this trap to be more humane and kid friendly.
hotwire pm me your address and phone number where you can be reached at so i can give it to tony.
let me also make this clear i don't have any thing to do with this trap except working on a better stablizer system for it for tony.this is his ball not mine but with my adc test this trap past the test with flying colors. 0 % lost animals,0% foot damage and only 1 trap had bait taken and that was from mice and not coon.

No.11's are a coon killer. I took over 600 in the mid 80's one year and all but a handful were from no.11's.

sunny i was only using a couple of dz for adc work here during march threw may . my catch rate was 75% catch rate in some areas and others was a 100% depends on the coon's travel pattern.around barns were there was feed lots it done very well. looks like thats all i will use this season due to the lost of use of my left arm but that might not happen because the doctor plans on cutting on my spine as now i have no choice in the matter.i plan on trapping and like i said you just put your finger in the bottom and turn it up side down and right back up and it's set. push it in the ground and stake and you are gone. pretty much like pipe trapping.tony made this trap for the younger kids in mind. it's the most stress free trap that i have seen because of the trigger system.i have one for jflapper to check out i need to get to him and if you send me your address i will send you one to check out.
