Since I enjoy "tinkering" with new ideas and redoing old ideas, I have built several "new" traps over the years. Some worked some didn't.
This year I will be trying a trap design that I believe will make for the easiest bedding traps ever. The top will be much like the old 1.5 Monty's. (my all time favorite trap) The bottom however will be much different then any trap made.
The bottoms will be a round frame system. With some depth to them to make them stable when bedded. Sorta like a trap inside a pipe, if that makes sense.
I should get one or two built within the next few weeks and will get some pics of them when I do.
I also have another DP trap that I have actually used a few of. They are set simply by pulling on a cable while holding a pin in. So far, they have worked real well. Caught some small and large coon with them and none have had any damage or gotten away. Waiting for really cold weaather to see if the pipe I am useing will hold up and not get so brittle it breaks.

Huck, make me a couple of those DPs and ill test them for you. the coon cuffs i got, while i can set them are tough for me. Jerry got a lil griz to look at and theres no way i can set it by hand. no way and if i did get one set and catch a coon it it id have a very hard time getting it out of the trap.

I will send ya a few to test Sunny.........
You can make a setter for the lil grizz pretty easy. They work similar to a coni setter.....just have to get the notches and length right.
If I had the time I would tan most all fur I get this year. Did that a few years back. Went to a bunch of the small retail stores around here and set them up on a consignment deal. Made good money that way. But it is a hassle and takes alot of time to keep up with.
