unprime coon.when you see dark spots then the fur is not quiet prime,if its a dark black or some prefers to call them blue coon meaning unprime .now if the leather was white it is prime .

there are different level of blueness and sometimes a slatey coon is actually of better quality than a coon that has reached and passed prime.
once a hide is prime, its actually started to go the other way.
many,many fur buyers Ive talked to prefer the slightly slatey coon immediately prior to full prime over even a prime coon.
sounds crazy i know but Ive talked to alot of different buyers and 90% have told me the same thing.

ya ever catch a Sky Blue coon? that is the TOP OF THE LINE as far as primeness goes. The reason so few are caught is that it only lasts 1-2 days on any coon.
