All of mine have really stout springs. The manufacturer advises not to dry fire them, as it damages the springs. Never had a pullout problem, or even a leg move in one. If they're swivelled good, and the coon can't reach anything solid like a root to pull against with his free legs, he's usually pretty well caught. Just my experience with the ones I have. YMMV

I've never had a pull out anything on any of my Grizz. I do make sure the Trigger is all the way in that little slot though. So I avoid hand catches an get a entire paw catch.
Catch a Big ol Boar last night in one, and he wasn't going anywhere. It had him caught about mid-hand.

no, how do you go about settin the actual trap?

I put the back of my palm on the back of the trap where the springs an stuff are not, and put my 4 fingers from boths hands around the springs an squeeze the springs down. Then use one of my fingers from my left hand to grab the trigger an pull it down. Once I get it all the way down I can hold the spring shut with one hand, and use the other to move the trigger holder an so on to set the trap.
Kinda don't see how I do it lol. I was the first to be able to set it lol.
Better watch though, you let your hand slip an that trigger will come flyin back an pop you lol. Was releasing a grinner, and as I was resetting it, it popped me an boy does it hurt on some ice hold fingers lol. ;D

the springs on Lil Grizzs are way too strong for me to set them by hand.
i have no problem setting footholds up to #3s by hand but the springs are too strong in the lil grizzs we're using for me to set them by hand.
ill try what youre doing again but have tried it before and was not successful.
there is no way i cpold set 100 by hand in a day like some do

I really don't see how I do it because I'm not that strong. I guess it's techinque. Lol.
The most I've set in a day was probably 4. Lol. I'd say by 30 and I would have to quit lol.

If you have short fingers, they make a setter for them, or you can use a long screwdriver to gain additional leverage.
