No i havnt. But the beaver float is alot differnt than a rat float. 1 trap! vs 3 or 4.

I only use one trap on my muskrat floats also. I would like to see a pic of a beaver float. I am looking at deep water beaver trapping. Im thinking of using a 330 conibear.

Made 4 more muskrat floats today. Looking like high water has sunk my rat runs about 6 feet deep. So I will be floating for most of them

Here are a few illustrations for your reference if you have not seen these before. I do not trap beaver, nor have I made any of these floats. I happened to have these photos in my Trapping Library. Should give you some basic ideas for them that use a #330. Where dimensions are not available, use the trap as a reference to estimate them. Nice illustrations. Be sure and check the legality of this set in your state. I know it is illegal in VA and WV.

Coonripper, Notice that all of the "beaver floats" are V-shaped. I am not aware of any that are platforms as the muskrat floats are.

OK I gotta ask...why would ya need a float such as that for beaver? Even when their dens or lodges are under water they are still around and will work the same type sets as before.....in some cases even better. IMO anyway.

I've heard they work well in rivers with travelling beaver/changing water levels. Never tried one myself.

WR,
You are correct in that response. That is why beaver floats are also "V" shaped instead of being square, or rectangular as those for muskrats so they can remain stable in the current.

I ran 36 on my spring beaver run.
Water fluctuations were not an issue this year. They are bulky, but they out performed my 750's because they kept working.
I anchor them to a 3/8 T stake with a six foot cable, a little grass or whatever over the arms. A little dab of castor and couple of drops of oil. No bait stick.
I want to run about 100 next year. They are great.

so do you put the lure where the 2 boards form a V and set the 330 to catch the beaver as it tries to crawl up to go after the lure?
how much do you think they way?

I have used several different variations of this set. The thing I noticed was that, for me these type of sets caught mostly the smaller 1&2 year old beaver.
I used poplar sticks screwed into the back of the "V". The beaver go through the bodygrip to get the bait when things go according to plan. However, many times the beaver went after the poplar from the side to avoid the trap. It's my guess those were the larger beaver.
These sets are quite heavy. I used them under very limited circumstances. You aren't going to want to carry them very far. I only used them when I had my ATV along.
