Went fishing the other day at a pond about 1/2 mile or so from the house and took some pics of some spots that I thought would make some good blind sets for mink.So just let me know how you think these spots should be set up correctly since I know nothing about mink trapping, except what some "pinch points" look like. #1- (Do you think a #110 places between the bank and that smaller log would serve as a good blind/trail set? and how about a #110 hugging the end of that larger log?) #2- (How about a #110 between that weed and the bank, looks to be a trail of somekind going there?) #3- (Heres a spot in the stream that flows from the pond, it goes under a rock and acts as a natural culvert, would mink travel through these to try and stay out the open as much?) I know there is mink in the area from tracks and poop, just wish December would hurry up and get here so I can set some water traps..lol also when targeting mink with #110's in my situations would you suggest wire triggers or the wooden mink pans, as I have both? Thanks, Luke

If you have them, in most of the scenarios you listed, I would use a 1 1/2 coil spring. The 110 might work in the last photo, if you can make the trap stable.

first pic,If you snare you could put a snare on the log about were the bark begins. Put you a bottom edge set along the side of the log and out at the end of the log. Mink are always looking around them for crawdads frogs and fish. Second pic same thing put you a B.E. set along the side of the log and stack two 110s' between the log and bank. You get to cover both places were mink and rats are traveling top of water and below. Last pic, Again don't overlook the bottom along the rocks. Looks like some good places. Some times B.E. sets don't get going until it freezes over. Don't get discouraged and remember one thing "patience" If you find sign that they are there leave them there.

Yepp, I will have out a few pocket sets nearby with a #1 1/2 coil or #11 guarding it. Now I just need more frogs and fish for bait for them..lol

You can improve a mediocre spot for a blind set with a shovel. A couple of those spots are good, but would be red hot after a little digging.
