Here are some pics of my drowner rig and finished set. I use 3/32 cable with a universal swivel as a lock. The roller harrow weight or cultipacker wheel(whichever U want to call it) and the #5 Bridger weigh about 38#'s. I generally use about 8-10 ft of cable with it staked solid at the bank. After the trap is set, the stake driven, I put my foot on top of the cable at the swivel, and after making sure there are no kinks or curly cues in the cable I give it a pitch to deep water, which makes the cable tight. I use to use 1/8 but found out this works much better with the size of the hole in the drowner lock. The bridger locks that come standard with the traps have bigger holes and appear to me to shorten the life of the cable. That's Billy gettin ready to jump out of the truck(name all my big traps, , stake started in ground and trap set, with trigger pushed all the way up, , finished set, , the water in this creek is about 6' deep. Another one of the reasons I like this setup is that it canned be pulled back in after a catch, (or miss), very easily, and tossed back out. Wading out and placing the drowner is not an option, weights toss like frisbies, not sandbags.
