I would like to know how many of you do this and do you have any luck. I have done some but I can't say that has help that much. Where to you put it and how high off the ground maybe this is what I'm doing wrong. I have taken a few cats in Missouri and have trap cats in NM. But I did not have that much luck with Flags.

I have tried it also, without any luck...I just figured I was off on location.

I use aluminum pie tins cut into quarters and hung them 4 to 6 feet from a cubby with a whole beaver carcass nailed to a tree inside a teepee like cubby. Haven't caught a cat yet, but the pie tins are knocked down and cat tracks. Playful buggers, I can just picture them dancing around and batting at the tins. Just won't go into the cubby. Even putting a trap under the tins they seem to avoid the trap. Got to come up with something better. Not sure what. Just my thoughts.

Ive caught a few cats, all with a feather or a "furry creature" made from fake fur and teddy bear eyes hanging 2 feet or so above and behind the trap.[img src="[/img]IMG]http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc120/gimmeamidget/DSCN0431.jpg"]

i flag EVERY cat set... i even flag my cages the rule is: there is not rule... cats love a showy setup... the flashier and cornier it looks the better it is... you can't use too many feathers! (if legal) if i have enough feathers i'll sprinkle them over a 10' circle area.... drop some in the branches around the set.... leave them a feather trail to follow.... they can't resist it try to get them on the downwind side of your set and use a little skunky call lure right behind the trap and youre in business...

I caught a bobcat in this set, Was a dead deer carcass with four MB-650's set around it and a dead crow hanging in the tree a few feet up. I know nothing about trapping cats or hardly any animal for that matter so take it for what its worth. (showing where the traps are bedded) (final set blended in with added eye appeal)

Never had much luck flagging, not for lack of effort though.

so youre saying that the reason you didn't catch a critter was because you flagged it???
sorry, but that is highly doubtful..... the flagging isn't going to "spook" critters....
i would venture to bet that the reason you didn't catch at a flagged set wasn't the flagging...
i flag pretty much all my sets unless i am making a water set or a flat set in the middle of a wide open pasture....
if a cat rolls by... I WANT IT

Anything shiny works well. Garland that you put on a christmas tree works real good. In the moonlight it'll light up just a bit. A buddy of mine took some broken mirror pieces and put them on a piece of tape and hung them above the set and caught his limit of cats at the same set. I'm thinking those types work best when there's a moon out to give reflection. Nothing beats a turkey feather but...it's not legal in some places. If you have a cat, try hanging different things and see if your cat will try to play with it. Odds are if your cat will mess with it, so will a bobcat.

We use mostly wings. Tried half an aluminum pie tin last year and it worked.Need top have a swivel on the line though.
