How do you dig the hole to put your lure or bait in? and what do you dig it with?

I stake/bed my trap first. Then, I use a piece of 1/2" rebar I carry and either push our pound it down about 9"-12" and then work it around to make my hole.
Of course, that's for a dirthole - not a cubby set. For a cubby, I carry a small shovel. But I don't make many of them.

Trowel, dirthole punch, or rebar stake driver. It depends on how big/deep you want to make it.

i use my bar, can punch through small rocks, frozen ground, and i can make it extra deep, so the water will have a place to go, also on remakes, it is easier to dig after you have a deep hole to start with.

These are what I use to dig dirt hole or pocket sets. The one with handle works great to chop roots with. I made both of these myself.
