Economy all over the world looks to be imporving a little. i think they'll hold with some advacnement for some critters. Muskrats in particular will increase I think, supply and demand and there arent near the muskrats there use to be. With the traps and time we invested we should have stretched 500-700 and we didnt get anywhere near that.

Hit the reply button thingy too quick. I think wild mink will advance as the farms are starting to pelt out to keep from feeding too many $10 mink but it may be next fall before wild mink improve. Less trappers/fur hunters this year and short catchs should help move some critters forward. Some of the cheap prices kept some fur from the markets and it was sold as tanned items and novelties. We gave our yotes away to be tanned and resold as novelty items, rugs etc as we were only offered $1, skunks were cheap and most of ours were tanned and sold as novelties and for hats etc. Our area had a large beaver catch as the price of castor soared so I expect our beaver to top at $10 or $11 next fall. Red fox was a surprise later on and those in our area who held onto finished hides were well rewarded by the price difference. Our grey fox numbers are way down but we did harvest a few but released the rest, prices were dismal and I expect that to continue as they ride a 20+year price cycle and are down and headed lower unless someone comes up with a demand of some kind for their good leather hides? Coon are cheap and I think they'll hold steady or get cheaper even with the short catch as my understanding is the Greeks and Russians are the main buyers and we all know the Greeks aint doing good and theres a big holdover of coons. We never stretched and dried any coons as the price difference was around $1 so we invested the time to finish any into catching more muskrats and fox. Except for a few conibear coons we released all of the mediums and smaller from footholds. Most around here didnt trap or hunt coons(I imagine that scenario was nationwide) so next year or the year after coons may see a good jump in price but I dont think it'll happen before the '11 season. We have alot of otter and bobcat but theyre protected, ugh.
