Daniel also did very well. he got a 2.8 which for him is like a 4.0. he hates school and is capable i believe of more, BUT least he got no Fs this time around which is excellent for him. im proud of him also.

Congrats to Myra. Did she get her smarts from her dad I guess? Daniel sounds like my son Matt. He is a smart kid when he wants to be, but he just doesn't want to be. It's cool to do poorly in school I guess.

Congrats to Myra. Did she get her smarts from her dad I guess? It's cool to do poorly in school I guess. I've noticed this with my nephews. When they are around their dad and I they act pretty normal, but when they are with their own age group or strangers they act like they are retarded. Duh and uhhh and like is the extent of their vocabulary.

actually she gets it from me. i never had to crack a book and still made great grades.
her dad quit school when he was in the 10th grade because he had to have his leg amputated and got behind but hes done alright for himself. hes like my son, more mechanically inclined than towards books.
my son will be as successful as his sister.. he works really well with his hands and has worked with an electrician i n the summers learning to do that and he is good and tearing stuff up and putting it back together again so it works.. ;D thats WAY more than i can do,lol.
actually i told him if he got an F he could forget hunting cause i was taking his shotgun,.22 and his deer rifle. he knew i meant it so he came through. i also told him if he was able to do it this time he could do it from now on and id better not see an F come home or the guns would be mine till the next report card showing he'd improved his grades.
he loves to hunt so I'm expecting no F's this year from him. ;D

We did something similar to my son - he turns 16 in a couple of months - now his chance to get a drivers license is tied to C's or better. His chance to keep it is also tied to C's or better. He is actually putting in better effort this year. Of course, he also thinks that means we'll get him a car. Not just any car - a really fast, really cool sports car. I keep asking him how cool a kia is?

He was tough for a while - from about 12 to 14 or so. No matter what you did to punish him, he shrugged, said "Whatever" and walked away like he didn't care. I think he just knew how to get under our skin.
