Here we go again, another 4H season and the kids want animals to show. Im getting them Dairy goats this year. First time for us. Should be fun. Also they will be showing Neatherland Dwarf rabbits and a dutch. And my son is the chicken king., He will have his poultry all shinned up by July's Fair. The daughter is the horse person in the family and she is ready to ride. These along with other projects keeps us very busy.
Anyone else have kids in 4H or any other organization like that? They sure learn alot I feel.

My son will have 28 entries this year and my daughter will have 19. Its go time. My daughter built a heater house from an old barrel for bottle lambs. My son built a brooder box for baby chicks. They got that done already since they have been out of school due to the cold.

We now have bottle goats and chicks. One of the show rabbits had babies. No one is claiming responsibilty for putting the two together to "play".

LOL - maybe they are just smart enough to get together to "play" on their own.

Kinda sad, this year's enrollment in 4-H camp was so low, they opened it up to any kid in the county, 4-H member or not. Guess the kids are more interested in playing their X-Box 360s and riding their skateboards, blogging on myspace and twitter, etc, etc... Used to be when my kids were in it, just 4-5 years ago, the camp enrollment was full every year. Oh, well, sign of the times, I guess....................

Rate it's going around here, before it's all over will be about 5 years or less.
Kids got more important things to do. Skateboards to ride and aliens to kill. Twitter/myspace/facebook blogging and text messaging.

My son bought his own phone - one with the full keyboard. Yikes! We had to change the plan to unlimited texts and he pays for the difference! He is sending 3000 texts a month! The kids don't even talk to each other on the phone anymore, they just text.
