He came in third among the second graders and will get a trophy for that. Then, the final three in each grade moves to the overal Pack races. In that, he made it to the final eight before he was eliminated.
Ironically, the first and second overall in the Pack were also 2nd graders - the same ones who beat him at the smaller level.

Pinewood Derby is something I loved to share with my three boys when they were younger.
Now they are all grown up and I can't wait to see my grand kids get in to Cub Scouts and do what my own dad got me started in.
Glad to hear you have yours in in Scouts Scansy!

He's my second one in scouts. The oldest did the whole Cub Scouts thing, but was/is wrapped up in sports so didn't continue in the Boy Scouts.
The derby is fun. We do an annual rocket launch too that the kids really like. In a couple of weeks we are spending the night on the Battleship New Jersey. This summer there is the regular camping weekend - not real hard core camping, but the kids have a blast.

There is a Den Leader and a Cubmaster - I'm neither. But I have been doing a lot to help out.

Obviously I think it's important to be close to my boys. I think it is very underrated for a dad to be close to his daughter too. I want Alyssa to see that a man can be good to a woman and responsible to a family and still be a man. That will help her better when picking a man down the road.

Sam, there is no chance - and I mean NO chance - that I would ever introduce my daughter or wife to you.
