As if they weren't debt-ridden enough, overregulated California has placed a bill before the legislature that would require hotels to discard flat sheets and use only fitted sheets instead. The measure, which has already been approved by the senate is intended to reduce back injuries sustained by hotel housekeepers who must lift mattresses to change flat sheets. The bill would make it a crime in California not to use a fitted sheet by hotels. The hotel industry estimates they would have to spend at least $30 million to replace sheets and buy fitted ones according to the LA Times. California lawmakers past and present have endured ridicule by introducing bills that would outlaw spanking your children, ban trans fats in restaurants, require calorie counts on menus, ban the cooking of shark fin soup, and outlaw Styrofoam containers. Another bill pending would require hospitals to provide patient-lifting equipment or teams of backup workers to help avoid back injuries while lifting patients. The cost of providing a two-person lift team around the clock is about $375,000 a year according to the California Hospital Assn. It seems instead of focusing on the many real problems facing California, their lawmakers want to regulate bedsheets.

I'll never figure out how that goofy state has survived this long! No idea who in their right mind would even want to live there either!

I've seen the redwoods. I don't care if I ever go back. My wife's sister lives near San Jose and keeps asking us to come out to visit. I told my wife she should go, I don't care if I ever go back there..... too crowded....too many people.
