A recent study in DC stated it cost more to send your child to daycare than college. Since the poor have programs that pay for their kids to go to daycare, or the parents simply don't work, are the Middle Class folks being encouraged not to have kids?
I did a search for birth rate vs. socioeconomic status but did not find any research with numbers. Mortality rates for poor kids is a factor. Also found out poor folks were more likely to obtain an abortion. Teen pregnancy rates are down. I imagine children born to illegals is a factor also. If you guys are better searching for info I'm very curious if the middle class reproduce at much lower rates or not at all.

I don't even know what middle class is anymore. Everyone's either super rich or super poor these days. Saw today 1 in 6 americans are now living in poverty, thought that odd till looked at my own situation and realized ive moved from lower middle class to poverty under Obama!

I heard on the radio yesterday that a little over 50 million considered at poverty level and are on some sort of welfare, like food stamps, surplus foods, county housing assistance, etc. This is a new record.
