I made one out of wood with a hand crank off a boat trailer. It's not electric, but sure beats pulling by hand. I would never be able to skin a bunch of cold coon if I had to do it by hand. I've got arthritis in one of my hands and it can get pretty painful. Otter can be tough to skin too and it works great for them too.

cool. Glad to hear they work on otters. I am gonna be after them in about two weeks.
Mine works real well. But I may redo it to verticle. Dang near sliced my hand open today reaching around a yote to "help" it over the rib cage. One leg gave way and it jerked back almost gettin me. Then I threw the knife in anger and haven't found it yet....LOL

Your machine is horizontal now?
I was thinking of a horizontal deer skinning set up. Now, I hang the deer by the back legs and pull the hide off with my ATV. It works pretty slick and you don't get much hair on the meat. But, a horizontal set up might be even better.

yep made it horizontal because of limited ceiling . used it today and really like it the way it is, but may still go verticle if I can figure out how to make up for the extra long pulls from time to time.
I ahve used a 4 wheeler and even a truck to pull deer hides off. Most times I only use my hands though. That way there is little if any meat on the hide. And it don't take but a few minutes either.

I have done that, but always end up with a lot of hair on the deer.
