I use square...much stronger than pipe. Although heavy walled pipe would most likely work just as well.
I buy all mine localy. To much shipping costs to buy online.

I made my machine mostly out of wood, 4X4s, 2X6s, etc. About the only metal in mine are the cable, pulley, and boat winch. I have to hand crank the hide off my coon, otter, and other tough to skin, pain in the butt critters. But, it still sure beats pulling by hand.
I have arthritis in my right hand and if I had to pull hides off some of these, I would have to quit trapping or sell in the round. And for me, part of the joy of trapping is putting up the fur.

wood would be ok but as we move from ranch to ranch for 3 months i need something more portable that i can take it apart and load it in the truck.....
any ideas??

Saw one on a site a couple of years ago that was made of 2x2 inch square tubing and it slid into the receiver of your trailer hitch. I cant remember which site it was but I bet if you were to goggle it you would have lots of ideas.
