With Chris (my son) and Keaton (my nephew) rabbit hunting.
As much as Chris hunts he says rabbit hunting is still his favorite. This is the first year Keaton is carrying a gun so he naturally loves it.. he has gotten his first bushy tail and his first rabbit so far. Chris and I did our best to get him a shot at a deer, but it didn't work out....YET!!!!
I really enjoyed the day. I was wore to a frazzle by the time we were done, but I have another memory for the old library.
No matter what else happens, I can call either of my sons to go hunting and get my mind back where it should be.

i go trapping thru march 7... we have 4 or five large south tx ranches we trap each season (we have prolly 20 ranches waiting on us but can only trap 4 or 5 per season) they range from 20,000 up over 100,000 acres per ranch depending on which ones we are on at the time.... most of em are whitetail breeders.... but when we go we dont come back home till april 1st...... just move from one ranch to another .

So, what do you trap?
Do any of those ranches have problems with hogs? Have you seen the show, American Hoggers? I never understood why they catch them hogs alive instead of just shooting them.

we trap for cats and snare for yotesand we catch some yotes in traps and a few cats in snares but thats the plan then we allways catch some other stuff ....coons skunk javelina badger etc... but we primarily target cats in traps and yotes in snares ... yotes down here are worthless but we have to catch em for the ranchersthere are hogs all over tx but we only take one now and then .. just for eating.... yes ive sen american hoggers and several shows like it and the only answer i have as for why they take em alive is that they're nuts.....lol

I was thinking they capture them alive because if they killed them, the heat would cause them to start to deteriorate quickly.

i wouldnt know the reason when i kill one i dress it out lol some these folks down here have a new sport of trailing down a hog with dogs then when he all tired out and dogs torn up they run in there and stab the hog with a knife.... personally i think they the dogs deserve all the credit tho lol
