Here in Atlantic Canada we still have lots of snow on the ground and most of the lakes and ponds as well as the swamps are covered with 1 to 3 feet of snow and ice so the ducks and geese are pretty much starving to death. So I just got through lugging 1/2 bag of oats and an other 1/2 bag of corn down to the brook in back of me and spread it out along the bank so it will be accessible to the ducks and geese as the brook is open. I know it is not much but it may save a few birds. I will take the remaining corn and oats to an other marsh later on today. We are having a mild spell so things are thawing out but there is a lot of snow in the open and even more in the woods. It will be May before You don't need snow shoes to get around in the woods /streams where I go trout fishing and then the water may be too high to get to the streams. guess I'll have to fish the lakes instead when they open up. Been a hard winter the last couple of months.
