Hey folks, My K-9 line has begun for the year here in MS, and I have been fortunate enough to catch two black coyotes so far. I was able to get a picture of the latest one that I have caught and wanted to share it with other fellow trappers.

Earl8656,
Yes, I caught them off of the same farm. The sets were about a mile apart. The first one I caught (not pictured) in a Flat set, and the one pictured I caught with a standard dirt hole. The firt was a male , and the second a female. I'm sure that there litter mates.
I would really like to get this one mounted, but I'm afraid the pelt wouldn't withstand tanning right now. Its still awful early. While taking her out of the trap, I checked the primeness, Its not slipping, but it is still not heavy either. What's your opininion? Do you think it would withstand fleshing and tanning at this time.

It will tan, be careful stretching and fleshing, don't stretch to tight and make sure you pay close attention to the legs when drying, especially in this hot weather. I think I would have frozen the hide, heck u may catch another one later, that is more primed and better furred.
