I caught this rough looking fox today. Is this a sign of mange or just getting later into the season? Fox had plenty of energy when I approached. Caught him in a creek bottom - there is a location where all the trails come down to one to cross a small feeder spring - at a spot where someone had put a pipe in the woods many years ago. There are good looking fields nearby, but I don't have permission to trap the fields. I've been trying to figure out how to catch the fox in the area - then I stumbled upon this trail. In this first picture, you can see the rough spot near the tail. This is a close up of the back/tail. This is between the rear legs on the belly side. Not real clear picture, but bad looking spot. These last two are up under the neck.

Early stages of mange?
If it is early stages of mange, is it worth selling - or just dump it?

yes, early stages of mange.
You have to ask someone else about selling. I dont do that.

Yup. That's what I did. It was a female, not too big. Left me a nice catch circle though.
