I wanted to post these pictures - just to differentiate myself from sam! ;D These were in sets right around the corner from each other - they have been productive for a couple of weeks now. They are only about 20-30 yards apart. I have a third set nearby (another 20 yards or so) that had a footprint this morning over a jaw, but missed the pan. Didn't dig though.

Phil Brown's going to be making a personal visit if you start cutting in on his numbers.
We've got six inches of new snow and you've got bare ground. There's something wrong about that.
PS: Congrats

It's not bare now. We have aobut a half inch so far and still falling. Who's Phil Brown? I doubt I'm gonna hurt his numbers too much.

Phil Brown caught over 1000 fox last year.
Was that a flat set, or you still catching them in dirt holes ?
Congratulations on a great season. AGAIN !

I did see pictures of a guy with 1200 fox last year - I guess that was probably him. Dang, if he starts seeing me as compettition, I will know I'm doing good! ;D But I doubt it.
Those are dirtholes - remakes actually. I had my first check at these two spots on 12/31 and had five or six days where I had to pull out of there - so in about 13 days of checks, I have seven at this spot - four in one, three in the other. Doubles twice. And when I reset after being out for those days, the spots had been worked while I was gone.
I just keep rebedding the traps in the same spot, pile up the grass, leaves, dirt, etc from the catch circle as the backing, put the branches I used as the original backing on the pile of grass, re-dig the hole, but not bait it. Then, just a little new urine.
This is the spot I've seen the three fox when checking (not caught though).
These two are really nice - thick fur, no rubs, good size. Two of the nicest I caught so far.

Follow up from this morning - the first two pictures are the same set as the first one above. How did I get this many prints around the set without Mr. Red either tripping the trap or digging it? I checked - it wasn't frozen in. I didn't like seeing his tracks go in and then come out. In the close up, there are two tracks, side by side in front of the hole. The pan is right between them and a little bit closer to the hole. Those two tracks didn't miss the pan by a 1/2" probably. This is the same set as the second picture above. This guy wasn't so lucky. His tracks went in, but didn't come out! Based on following the tracks, it wasn't the same fox even though the sets are only 20 yards or so apart. Gotta love a catch circle in the snow!
