Here is a pic of a Big Bull Buffalo. The gentleman who owns him has a herd of about 100, along with some Piedmontese Cattle. Both the Buffalo and the Piedmontese offer low cholesterol red meat.

Near where I lived in TN. they had a herd of them. All fenced in, like that was gonna stop them, they are huge critters for real. A cow with a calf aint nuttin to mess with either. I have eaten some, good stuff. Cooked old style on a spit over a hickory fire....yummmy!!!!!!!
We snuck in one night froggin in the buff's waterin ponds. A dab blamed wardon came along and talked with our truck Driver for over an hour. Leavin us layin in the prarie grass. When he left, he told Bobby, " your buds can come out of there now, they should ahve enough chiggers to last them a long while". He was right, I ahve never been so miserable in my life with them damned things.

Just South of here the Tribal Gov runs a herd of buffs. The problem is, that the buffalo, forget at times that they are suppose to stay on one side of the fence. They just push the fences right over and don't even feel the barbs, and roam free through everyones crops, and us farmers can do nothing about it if your farm is on tribal land. You can call in the damage, but they just say sorry and let them roam. It gets to be a real problem in htis are. I love to see them though, just not bulldozing my fences!

Hunt, just put up some signs and direct em to your gates.im sure ya can remmeber to leave em open for 'em. ;D..that way they wont trample your fences ;D

all of the fences around here for buffalo are generally backe by 2 strands of high tensile, electrified. The working lots are made with 6x6 posts and 4 guard rails high! Must work, haven't seen or heard of any on the loose!

I've eaten the buffalo that was raised and processed less than a mile from my house. The steaks were good! The hamburger is denser than regular burger. It doesn't take near as much to fill u up!

A friend of mine raises Buffalo's, I prefere to eat buffalo meat over any other. there is a restaurant in the town that the company I work for, that serves all kind of wild game meat, buffalo is it's specialty, it's called Buffalo Jacks. might have to go there for supper tonight ;D, just cant decide if I am in the mood for Alligator, Buffalo, or walleye. they have all you can eat walleye on fridays for $10.00 My friend has a sayin about the Buffalo's, he says, you can lead a buffalo any where HE wants to go ;D earl, one of these day's that ole buff will want to know what's on the other side of the fence and will walk thru it like it aint there ;D

well we both know he could, butr they have too much respect for that electric wireBefore the processing plant burnt down they were killing about 30 a week. Georgetown Farms were the owners and the farm itself is called Buffalo Hill. they never had any problem at all other than getting em to come off the trailers. Had to wait 24 hrs one time for him to decide to come off. They couldn't shoot him cause he was a herd bull...........and did u know that the fertility level in Buffalo Bulls varies quite a bit, thats the reason all the herd bulls are tested in high volume ranches/farms.
