Have patience,my friend. Rome wasn't built in a day!! I don't use but a few drags, and they aren't conventional drags. Mainly use drowners and stakes. My reasoning I don't is cause I don't like looking for critters in the dark when I'm in water up to the top of my boots, can't read sign as well in the dark either. The drags I do use are rasp bars out of an old combine(16"long and 5" wide weigh about 5lbs. Use about six ft of chain, swiveled at the trap, in the middle and at the fastening point(s-hook through a hole in the middle of the rasp bar. A coon or otter can pull it but won't go far in the creek.

I don't use drags around here, too much blackberry brambles. I either stake solid or use drowners.
On the other side of the state where its sagebrush and juniper my grandpa used what I would describe as a clog/drag. He filled a coffee can with cement, put a hook in it, kind of like a Scott Peterson boat anchor. Then he put in rebar hooks to form a drag.

thanks guys, the only one that uses drags that I know of hasn't answered yet , wish she would. I don't use them, I feel I aint got the time to go chasing a critter cross country, I have a couple of traps I want to set up for a friend before I ship them out. that way, they can use them right out of the box but thanks again.

jeff i use very very little drags .one and only reason because if it takes longer then 15 minutes to locate then i could have two new sets out.twice out of 25 years of trapping i used drags and that was on two sets only and that was with snares a long the river in a trail threw some brush that the coyote was working hard on dead cattle. the only reason i set the drags was because i wanted the trail to stay the same so it would not spook them.take 8 to 10 ft of chain and add 3 to 6 swivels the more the better because with that much chain they will get tangled up so the more swivels the better .remember coon rolls a lot and that will kink up a chain faster then any thing that i know of.as for the end take two 1/2 rebars 3 ft long and bend in to a u and weld them you will have four points that digs in and will be better to locate.
