What kind of modifications do you do to your traps?
On our new traps we purchase, we normally try to baseplate and center swivel. We shorten the chains on our traps and add swivels, usually about 3 total. The chains are shortened for 2 reasons: 1. So the animal doesn't have as much free play to lunge at the escape attempt. 2. when these traps are used on drowner cables in marginal depth water; that extra six inches of chain can mean the difference from keeping him submerged or not!

Bubble tipping the jaws is a must for land trapping. I like center swivels on all my traps along with 3 in line swivels. welding the j hooks closed. My chains on drowners are 1 swivel and 6 links long. I want the critter right on the bottom. Dry land 3 swivels with 12 links. I night latch all my traps. When using drags make sure all connections are welded shut like your j hooks and spit rings even the quick links for sure as they will come loose.
