Well, the voters made it official yesterday. He didn't get in. I personally wouldn't have voted for him either. It's not that he used steroids, its the fact that he didn't come clean at the congressional hearings. Heck, Pete Rose is still out of baseball. P.S. What were those 8 morons who didn't vote for Cal Ripken, Jr. thinkin??

While I don't deny they both deserved to be there, my vote would have went to Goose. Oh well, maybe next year.

Big E, I hope Mcgwire never gets in. The criteria for baseball is how you conduct yourself on the field and off so therefore he dont deserve to get in. Football is a different story. It is based only on what you did inside the lines. Glad to see 2 deserving guys make it in their first try.

The bad thing is I think Mac is a good guy who didn't know what to say or do. But, until he sets the record straight(which he never will, steroids done shriveled them cajones up), he stays out. IMHO I do disagree on foot ball however; these athletes who are making millions should be held accountable for their actions on and off the field. They are role models, too, no matter what they think. If U get paid the price, then act the part!!

i don't think you keep him out unless you keep all the big home run hitters and dominant pitchers of the late 80s and 90s. how do we know who all did it. pitchers can take steroids too. Clemons has done so amazing things for his age that no one else has been able to do. even my favorite pitcher nolan ryan is subject to scrutiny. McGwire is just in the spotlight.
do ya'll really think the guys of the 60s and 70s where clean sure they may not have done steroids but there were other drugs they took to help them on the field.
McGwire was a pure homerun hitter without steroids he hit 49 his rookie year a number to me that is bigger than when he broke 61 because i don't think we will ever see a rookie hit more than 49 home runs. sure i believe he did steroids and should be punished for it but he wasn't the only one. he should not take all the heat by himself.

I never thought Cal was all that and I'm from MD. SUre he deserves to get in, just how quickly? im not a big baseball nut, but I dont think he was really a superstar player. Maybe a few really good years, but heck, they even moved his position to third so he could keep playing and get the record.
I'll give him credit for staying with the Os and playin all those games, but strictly based on output, i think Cals a little overrated.
