Didn't know where to post this. Got out to do some calling with a buddy of mine that was up for the holidays today.Stand #6 gave up a nice male.We were calling an old beaver pond, one of my honey holes,it gave up many coyotes to the call and rifle.Today was no different. We sat down amoung the swamp grass and driftwood stumps.I started on my Tally-Ho and screamed like a rabbit caught by the tail. After about 10 min. I glanced over at my partner and seen he was tracking something through his scope.I looked hard and finally see the head of a coyote looking through the grass.I was waiting for the report of my partners 22-250 striker pistol, but nothing. The coyote started to head to our downwind side,I hit the Tally-Ho with a couple muffled squeals and stopped him.I put the cross hairs on his throat because thats all I had to work with,he was standing looking straight on at me.In a second I touched the trigger on my .243 and the coyote sunk in the tall grass. He was done.My partner ranged it at 154yds.,not bad off the knee.Heres some pics my partner took of me and the yote.He was a nice male.Turns out my partners sling swivel hung up on his shooting sticks and couldn't get the shot off.

Sorry didn't see this.Hadn't checked it for awhile are they hard to call in? Depends.Lots of things come into play.If their called to alot by others they can be hard to coax. But if they have very little pressure I feel if they hear a call they'll come to investigate. Some come charging like their pants are on fire, others may come out and kinda veer off to circle to get the wind. And some will come in from behind and spot and then bark and run off.

Yeah,I've called a couple cats in with distress calls. They work good on them.Only thing is around here cats come in slower than death. Here's a site with sounds to download.I listen to them and practice them on my hand calls. www.western-rivers.com/downloads.html

The prey distress they come in looking to steal a meal. The coyote vocals cause territorial responses just like any other dog.
Playing the sounds on my puter gets my 3 cats riled up too.
