I sell to a buyer and at the State sale. You never know, last year in Dec, rats were bringing 9 bucks, at the state sale i got 4.50 and some people couldn't get a bid.....some of the ones that shipped north still haven't sold...You can't ever tell, heck, if the buyers don't know, the sellers sure don't.

Sell to a local buyer. He gives me as much as he can and probably takes a loss on everything he buys (at least thats what he tells me). But I like the guy and its probably easier than shipping them so Ill stick with him.(at least this year)

I sell some here and some there. If the local buyer is paying what I am happy with I sell. If not I will ship. It is nice to be able to have money in you hand, but how nice is it. The biggest thing to keep in mind is if you get market level when you sell you did well. It is hard to compare what a country buyer will pay with the big auctions due to the recieving day and auction day differnce. Can you say the market hasn't changed. Take some fur in the day before the auction. If you shipped fur know what you shipped. Grade it out the best you can so you have something to compare. Alot of times it is the luck of the draw. Muskrat I could have sold local for a $5 avge are selling for $2.30 and half havn't sold in a year. On the other hand , I could have sold coon in the field for about half what they brought me at NAFA this year.
