Last night on the show, "Cash & Treasures" they had Kirsten Gum in West Virginia digging ginseng with one of the locals. It was real interesting, but the prices they were willing to pay her for wild root were far below what I've been able to sell mine for. They were diggin in a National Forest. Here in MN, it's illegal to dig on state or federal lands and they won't issue permits either.

me ex brother in law used to dig alot of it. are the wild roots alot smaller than the cultivated ones? maybe that why it was a different price? i know a local seller sold his for an average of right near 900.00 a pound overall. he was paying tween 775. and 8.25 depending on whe you sold it to him.

Wild roots are much smaller than the cultivated ones. And the cultivated ones are worth about 1/6th as much, if you can sell them then.
sorry Huck, i editted, wild roots are much more valuable.
