This what I received today at the VTA Dist 1 fur sale held in Wytheville, VA.
SPECIES QUANTITY TOTAL AVG. RED FOX 5 $80.00 $16.00 GRAY FOX 4 $147.00 $36.75 COON 5 $90.00 $18.00 MINK (m) 3 $38.00 $12.67 RATS 19 $55.00 $2.89 BEAVER 7 $150.00 $21.43 COYOTES 2 $32.00 $16.00
One seller received an $85.00 average on 8 cats and another seller received a $21.00 average on coyotes.
I only had 7 beaver and one was bit up bad. I am very happy with the beaver and coon. Had one coon under 24". One good yote and one that was weak. A female with not much more fur on her belly than I have on my head. All large rats and did receive an offer of #3.47 average. Best offer on gray fox of $39.00 average.
Pretty happy over all.

I am not responsible for FHA's typos. I did say something to a fur buyer from PA about the red price. At first he questioned what I said until he looked it up on the FHA published average results that he pulled out of his briefcase. Then he told me that they were New York reds and they have a lot better red than down here. I'd agree they have a better red but they aren't twice as good!
Cat prices probably at least 30% higher than last year.

I knew they were NY reds, and they are better, but i'm like you..are they 2x as good? Knew Cats were gonna be strong, but man those coon prices look good.

Only had three buyers look at my fur an some of the other guys from NC. One guy is always low but the other two were within 1% on overall offer. Interesting that they had different styles of looking at your fur an were that close. One never measured a coon or a beaver and the other measured them all. This was consistently the case with all the sellers fur they looked at.
