they were good. have any of you ever eaten them? They were from a grain fattened Boer goat. Pretty yummy.

Goat is good! Tastes more like good venison than anything. I think they are in the same family, aren't they.

I've eaten baby goat. We use to cook that instead of lamb for Easter. It's delicious.

once upon a year (early in married life) we lived on a wooded lot (in a house) that had lost of oaks meaning lots of acorns. well as a joke my father-in-law bought us two young goats to keep the acorns cleaned up. they did a good job but i just couldnt see me wintering them over. told the wife i found them a good home (they are so cute). really did get a big heavy buck that year but you wouldnt beleive how long we ate deer meat.

how was it cooked, roasted? My mom always cooked in the oven with potatoes and onions and of course whatever spices she added. it was really good.

My folks have a pigeon loft in the barn. We ate a lot of them along with the duck, goose, rabbit, chicken, beef, pork, lamb, and guineas we raised. We also grew a large garden. My dad was friends with Jerry Belanger, of "Countryside" magazine and "Raising Milk Goats The Modern Way".

Pigeon, properly prepared can be as good as dove. The problem is that pigeons can live for a relatively long time and get tough.

Guinea fowl taste sort of like pheasant. They are not truely domesticated birds; they breed and brood better if left to fend for themselves.
My neighbors some times resorted to shooting them if the wanted guinea for dinner. ;D

my mother had fowl of every description, until she got deathly ill one time from a rare disease. I have eaten all kinds of fowl except peacock.

My family never raised goats. We had cows. Raising goats make more sense to me on small acreage as they eat a wider variety of forage.
My bad experiences with squab were due to the cook and frequency of said bad experiences.
