WI squirrel season doesn't start for 3 weeks. I feel sorry for you Southern folks; warbles. I like sneaking up on 'em with my air rifle and making head shots. If you're careful, you can zap a limit without them knowing what's happening. I use a Beeman R1 with a 3-9x Burris. When the leaves are gone, the Rem. M541-HB w/ 3-9x comes out. When I had more practice in (it's great to be able to shoot every day), I'd make first time frontal body/head shots at up to 60 yards three out of five times. Nowadays 30 yards in the noggin saves meat. And if I'm lazy. I use a .410 .

Never tried squirrel, always wanted, want to try turtle too. ;D
Asked dad, he said yea if we got any, that they used to eat it all the time.
Hey got a question, wat digs up yellow jacket nests and eats em. Found one today, something had tore it 2 pieces.
And another thing, anyone have foodplots 4 deer? we seeded ours yesterday in the backyard. deer come out the all the time.

I'm thinking a skunk dug up that nest. They dig out grubs in lawns. From what I've seen, insects make up a good portion of their warm weather diet. Were the claw marks smaller?

The more experience you get, the more observant you become...and vis versa!
If something looks out of place, it pays to check it out. That's how you learn.
You also learn from screwing up, too! LOL

Skunks, coon, and fox will all dig up bee's nests. Skunks and coon usually tear up the nest and surounding ground worse than fox though.
I'd never seen a coon dig up a bee's nest before, until one day while I was bowhunting. A coon came shufling down a deer trail early one morning, and stopped about 22-23 yds away, and began digging in the ground. I watched it for a minute or two, and since it was a slow morning, slung an arrow at it, which missed. When I got down out of my stand an hour or two later, and went to retrieve my arrow, sure enough, the skunk was digging up a yellowjacket nest. Little buggers were hopped up, fo' sho'.
