Illinois Lineman Suspended Indefinitely
URBANA, Ill. (Feb. 23) - Illinois coach Ron Zook says defensive tackle Josh Brent has been suspended from the team indefinitely after his arrest over the weekend.
Illinois State Police say Brent was arrested early Saturday in Urbana for driving under the influence. A Champaign County Jail official says Brent has posted bond and been released. Zook says in a release Sunday that Brent is suspended until the team can "gather all the facts." He says officials will continue to monitor the information.
The 21-year-old Brent played in 10 games last fall as a sophomore. He had 34 tackles, 8 1/2 tackles for loss and 1 1/2 sacks.
Brent is scheduled to appear in Champaign County Court at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
do you think the coach was too hard on him since he hasnt been convicted of DUI yet?

Assuming he has no past problems, yeah, it seems harsh before conviction. Maybe the coach is thinking he isn't really hurting the kid since the season is months off for now and the case may be settled before the season, yet he can be tough and make an example. Maybe the coaches know something else that we don't know.

Inacent until proven guilty.
There are a lot of unfair things in life. One that stands out is, why can someone post bail just because they have money. But if your poor your scat out of luck.

what does a "suspension" mean to a collage FB player this time of year ? He can't lift weights ? I bet he is crying over that one.
Nope...not to harsh.........convicted or not he had to fail the brethalizer to be arrested. That in itself is enough to toss him out on his rear. If something is not being told and he was inocent..........they will re-instate him and he can play again.
More coaches need to be this hard on their players. Just like A-Rod needs to be banned from baseball.
