When you set a blind set in a mink trail with a 110 what kind of trigger configuration do you use. set a lot last fall and nothing. 1 1/2 long spring where a mink goes in or goes out of the water is the only blind that paid off. Then only some. Saw somewhere that a mink passed through 30 times before getting caught. help please. Paul

Paul:
Yep, that is very possible for a mink to slide thru the ^ configuation of a 110.
When I was going after mink, I replaced all of the trigger wires with, I think they were BMI 4 way triggers. and then just bent the trigger wires into each other, so it looked like a L on each one. The other thing I did with the stock triggers was I flattened out the end of the trigger wire, drilled a small hole and then ran 10 LB test fishing line between them and tied them off, that way if the mink tried to get thru, by there loping walk, the line would catch them by the belly or hind legs setting the trap off.

I also found a thread about it and they talked about cocking the trap into a diamond.
thanks again for the info. more experiments for the next season.

we use clamp on triggers for 220s on our 110s.
we bend them inja semi circle.
they fire quicker and weve taken mink in them set up this way.
if youre using those 110 triggers that are stock, spread them out a little bit so the V is wider and you might have a better catch ratio for mink.

something that Jerry does to increase his mink catch using 110s is to set the trap upside down. its harder for the mink to get past the trigger this way.
itll fire normally.
he does the same thing when setting 330s for otter.
