Well, since I'm new at this trapping thing, I've been reluctant to drag my kids out with me. They love to go fishing - as long as they catch something. Fortunately for me, I know plenty of spots where I can take them and catch something. Trapping hasn't been that way for me yet. I have been worried about boring them out of any interest in trapping. Well, there is a spot right behind my house I trap - it's a short walk. Jason likes walking around back there with me anyway and this spot has been productive. So he checked this one spot with me today (He's 9 yo.) I was pretty pumped when I saw the fox. You can see from the picture that he wasn't too sure about getting close to the fox. He wouldn't take his eyes off it - he was convinced it was gonna get him. I was worried he would be turned off by the dispatch, but he had no problem with it at all. I should've figured since he had no problems with the dead critters in the back of my truck when I come home from trapping or hunting. This spot has been productive - four nights in a row and five off the past six it had a fox. The best thing was all the questions Jason asked. All about the fox, the bait, the trap, the cap, etc. The curiosity kicked in. And as we were walking back to the house, he told me he wants to go again tomorrow! ;D It's only one fox in a season, but this was my best trapping experience yet and I couldn't wait to share it.

Talked him into holding one today. He wasn't ready to handle the dispatch yet though. The plywood has been there for years - some kids had tried to build a treehouse I think. Not sure how it got there, but it's starting to rot out. Last year, when making a set here I needed dry dirt and that plywood came in handy.
