in places there are alot of bear. some counties have a real problwm qith them destroying lambs.
some counties do not have a huntable opulation so they dont have a season at all. This year, jackson county, where i live, had its first bear season with a rifle. no dogs are allowed in our couny but are in many others.
pocahontas county if im not mistaken had the most bear killed last yar.
and the most incidents with destruction due to bears if my recollectin serves me right.

pocahontas county had a special early bear season this year to help curb the population.

coonripper, have you thought about Maine? I think you can use foot snares there, too.
Wisconsin is sort of a hassle.
