My dad just got home and told me that one of his employees that drove by where I hunt said he saw a HUGE buck, he said it was the biggest one he has ever saw. That guy does not hunt, so I should have a good shot at him. I have a idea of where he hangs out and stuff, but I was just wondering if any of you big time hunters can help me take this buck? Now don't get me wrong I hunt for the meat, I just want one wall hanger atleast, I will still take does and stuff though.I was just wondering if you guys could help me out, like to tell me where you guys have killed most of your deer. Thanks ALOT.

ive heard people that bow hunt swear by doe urine.
i dont know for sure maybe lou could help.
one things for sure, if hes that big h aint dumb so youre gonna have your work cut out for you. he'll be even more cautious once the shootin starts during season. Best bet, imo, is try to figure out whre he might be bedding down. my guess is its gonna be close to were he was seen cause he aint gonna venture to far from where he feels safe.(imo)
i saw 2 seperate big ones early this year and have never seen either one since.
watch him and try to find his trail and go rom there.
good luck.

Blake, one thing to keep in mind when deer hunting - they don't always need a big patch of woods/thicket to hide in.
Where we hunt, there is a patch of woods at the top of a hill. Farm fields all around. The patch is about 3 or 4 acres. Usually, in the middle of the day, we will push that patch out and almost every time deer are in there. Sometimes a big one.
That's not the first place like that. When I was a kid - about your age - we used to hunt where three roads made a triangle with each other. There was a crabapple thicket in the middle. No more than a couple of acres. Another spot that almost always had deer when the pressure was on in the mountains around this spot.
So when trying to figure where this guy goes during the day, don't overlook any spot.

Ditto what scansy said Blake. From what you told me about the place, there is going to be a patch of cover like that. It is your job to find it...I am soooo helpful aren't I???

thanks sunny..think i have a idea on where he might be bedding.sam, on one side of the road there a small cornfeild at the bottom of the hill and a 3 to 4 acre timber there and straight down from the hill to the right of the corn feild is TALL brushy grass, about 7 foot tall.then to the right of that is another corn feild and in front all of this is a river..but right behind that little timber is a bunch of ditches that lead to a huge timber... my dad swears over that huge timber...but then going back down to the little one on the other side of a road is a horse pasture and a real brushy timber and that horse pasture winds back up and in the timber there..never have hunted that yet, figure to this year though...ohh ya, jerry there is a little ditch that me and dad always bump 2 does out of, but never have got them either lol..he could be in there to.

You need to SIT ALL DAY LONG. I would look for a runway that leads into a swamp or heavy brush.
Good Luck

ive seen a pretty decent buck here and im sure hes beddin down in a very small brushy are and i mean very small at the mouth of a run but its so brushy he can hide in it all day long and never be detected.
its near some houses to so its pretty safe for him cause no ones gonna be in there hunting him.
good luck.

i think alot of thre time people dont relaize that it doesnt have to b a huge patch of cover for a deer to bed down and hide.

I remember when I was about13 years old. I was putting on a deer drive and I heard something moving around in a BUSH (about 5x5) I walked up to it and a doe high tailed it out of there.
Makes you wonder how many deer hunters making all that noise banging trees with sticks and yelling. And the deer just bed down and let you walk past. I found out its best to lag behind the drive instead of trying to get in front of it.

I had that happen to me. I was trapping and making a fox set on an old road connecting a large field to a small one. Some thick stuff and high grass. Got done making the last set and this HUGE doe jumps up and hightails it across the big field. I made two sets a that spot, one on each side. She jumped when I got done with the last one and took 2 steps toward the big field!

We get a group of guys together every year on some farms we have permission on and make lots of drives. Some years, we don't have as many guys. Those years, some of our drives, through the thickest, nastiest stuff we know deer run back after the drivers pass by. When we have enough guys, the drivers are closer together so they don't go back through. There is no doubt that hunters walk by deer all the time.
