She put a perfect shot him with my 22-250 it ran maybe 30yds. This might be my only deer for the year but he was good enough for me.

i gotta question OST, how come ya'll gut your deer when ya get em home instead of in the field?

Because by the time I gut one in the field I can be at the house doing it where it's a heck of lot easier and cleaner. When I hunt away from home and it's warm I will gut one on the spot or find some water.
To add to this I don't know anyone who guts them in the woods anymore unless like I say they are a couple hrs from home. Most hunter have camps or are close enough to their house to get them home to clean them.

We always gut ours on the spot. We usually are still hunting after we get one so gut right away - especially if it's early in the day. Then we hang and skin that night - prop open the chest so it cools down over night.
