I've heard stories about that sort of thing, but never seen one in person.

Nature is harder on animals than humans will ever be.

You are right OST - do you think that was a slower, more agonizing death than a well placed round from a rifle?

That is nature at her worst !!!!!!!!!!!
I seen the same thing three times. One was a young buck that one antler had grown under his chin and he couldn't eat.......shot him on the spot. two that were stuck together from fighting.....Doug shot them both. Coolest mount I ever seen. last one was a deer that had tried to jump a fence and got stuck. I almost went to jail over that one. Park ranger said that was nature and to let it die naturally. I told him that fence wasn't put there by nature and i was gonna destroy the deer. Which I did. Took two other rangers to talk him out of arresting me.

i saw one stuck in that had died stuck in a fence. not a good way to go.
i hate to see things suffer. theres a difference between a well executed dispatch and some of the things animals go through at the hands of mother nature, imo.

I have seen them try to run on ice....it is hilarious to watch. never seen one stuck in or on ice though.
Seen plenty of geese get froze in ice overnight. Some get loose later in the day...some don't....several are taken by fox/bobcats/yotes/even domestic dogs.
I have been told that snappin turtles will eat their legs off too. I have never seen that so can't say for sure. None swam in circles as far as I could tell anyway. LOL
