Yeah, I always heard spikes only too. But we've been watching this guy since he was born last spring. He's only a little over a year old right now. This is his first set of antlers.
There was a second one born with him. We saw them together with momma a lot last summer. Haven't seen the other one since last winter. Not sure if it's still around or not.

Pretty little feller, and photogenic, too. If I can find the video, one of our deputies shot about 2-3 minutes worth of footage with his cruiser camera of a piebald ten point last season. No one checked him in, so he's either still out there, or died a natural death.

if you had the opportuniy to shoot it would you or wouldnt you and why? Hmmmmmm....... considering that he's around our house a lot and I'm getting the chance to watch him grow..... probably not. But if it was somewhere where I wouldn't be watching him...... probably. On the other hand, we have so much trouble with deer damage...... Kill 'em all!!!! And with any luck, he would fall on a groundhog near the house and kill it too.

none here but i have heard that in places you can sell their hides but its a very specialized market.
the best fur would be on em right before they hibernate,imo... here thats earlier than you might think.
i actually had a guy in kansas contact me on the web about wanting a couple stretched hides last year.
dont know for what, i didnt ask.
